VCAL Students
You are required to attend school this week, with all classes at GSSC running (including GSSC VET studies). The only exception is if you have arranged with Mrs O'Bree or Mr Crosbie to do a work placement this week.
VCE Students
A reminder that this week is exam week. You are permitted to attend school only for your exams, but it is vital that you sign in upon arrival and sign out when you are being picked up by a parent/guardian (please bring a note from home if you are leaving). For students who travel by bus to school, or others who need to remain at school in between exams, we have a supervised private study room that you will need to use at those times. It is expected that you will be in uniform this week.

Dear parents and carers
Our school has been advised a confirmed COVID-19 case attended our school between Tuesday 9 November and Thursday 11 November.
The school is not required to close, however all Year 8 students will move to return to remote and flexible learning on Monday 15 November to enable potential primary close contacts to be identified and contacted. All Year 8 students will be able to access their lessons for tomorrow on Compass.
If your child is in Year 8 and we have not contacted you on Monday 15 November, to say your child has been identified as a primary close contact, your child should return to school on Tuesday 16 November.
Information for students and staff identified as PCCs
If you are contacted and advised that you or your child is a potential PCC, it is advised that the potential PCC should get a COVID-19 PCR test and should limit their movements outside of the home.
This means that, until you hear further from me or the Department of Health or a Local Public Health Unit (DH/LPHU), the potential PCC should only leave home for brief periods for necessary activities, such as:
- caregiving to family members when no alternative is available
- necessary medical appointments where no alternative is available (such as telehealth).
DH/LPHU may contact PCCs directly to interview them and advise if there are any changes to their PCC status. These calls or text messages can come from private or unknown numbers. Please answer these calls or follow text message advice if you receive a call or text message. If confirmed, DH/LPHU will send an SMS to the PCCs advising them of their quarantine, testing and release dates (this may take some days).
If your child is required to be tested, you may be able to access the $450 COVID-19 Test Isolation Payment. For more information refer to coronavirus.vic.gov.au
PCCs must quarantine at home and can end their quarantine period as follows:
- For 14 days of quarantine you must quarantine at home until you receive a negative result from a PCR test taken no sooner than day 13 of your quarantine period.
- For 7 days of quarantine you must quarantine at home until you receive a negative result from a PCR test taken on day six of your quarantine period. Your quarantine ends at 11:59pm on day seven.
DH will not contact you to end your quarantine; your negative test result is proof that you have completed your quarantine period.
A negative result from a rapid antigen test is not sufficient for release from quarantine.
The rest of your family does not need to stay at home at this stage.
If you or anyone in your family develops even the mildest of symptoms, please get tested.
A rapid antigen testing program is running in school communities from Monday 15 November to help students return to school as quickly as possible after being identified as a PCC.
You will be contacted separately if our school is involved in this program and provided with test kits. You will not need to buy these test kits.
