Dear parents and carers,

Our school has been advised of a confirmed case of COVID-19 within our school community but on the advice of the Department of Health (DH) and the Department of Education Training (DET) we are not required to close. Cleaning will take place at the exposure site for the GSSC Invergordon Campus only.

All other campuses will continue operating in line with the current advice from the Victorian Chief Health Officer.

Health authorities are advising that staff and students who were on the Invergordon Campus site Thursday 7th October, must quarantine for 14 days. The exception is for Covid-19 testing. This only applies to staff and students who were on the Invergordon Campus on Thursday 7th October.

If you are identified as a primary close contact DH will get in touch with you directly. These calls or text messages can come from private or unknown numbers. Please answer these calls or follow text message advice if you receive a call or text message.

If you or anyone in your family develop even the mildest of symptoms, please get tested. If you need to get tested, please check coronavirus.vic.gov.au for up-to-date information about waiting times at testing sites across the state.

Staff, students and visitors to schools are reminded to stay up to date with current face mask advice. Further information can be found at coronavirus.vic.gov.au/face-masks.

Like all Victorian Government schools, our school has a COVIDSafe plan, which includes extra cleaning and record-keeping of all staff, students and visitors who attend on-site. QR codes are mandatory for any visitors to schools including parents who come into school buildings and indoor facilities (but not staff or students).

Dear Families,

I would like to welcome back to school tomorrow Monday 11th October our Year 11 and Year 7 students who will join our Year 12 students already attending on-site learning full time.

The following will now apply to all other Year levels:

  • Years 8 & 9 students will return to on-site learning each Tuesday and Wednesday from Tuesday 12th On Monday, Thursday and Friday each week they will remain at home and continue their remote learning.
  • Year 10 students will return to on-site learning each Thursday and Friday from Thursday 14th On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday each week they will remain at home and continue their remote learning.

Any Year 10 student studying a UNIT 1 & 2 VCE subject are able to attend on-site for these classes on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and then return home to complete their remote learning on these days. If they are a bus traveller and cannot be picked up after their class, they can remain at school and they will be supervised by staff.

These arrangements will continue for two weeks. It is recognised that this staggered start will be challenging, however it provides clarity and an opportunity for our students to re-engage with onsite learning.

On Tuesday 26th October all students return to onsite learning full-time from this date.

All students are mandated to wear a mask at all times at school and while also travelling on a bus to and from school.

We are very excited that our students are now able to return to on-site learning either full-time or part-time.

REGISTERING FOR ONSITE LEARNING

This will be available for children of parents who cannot work from home, and vulnerable children, including: children in out-of-home care; children deemed by Child Protection and/or Family Services to be at risk of harm; children identified by the school as vulnerable (including via referral from a family violence agency, homelessness or youth justice service or mental health or other health service and children with a disability)
