We are proud to announce Jaye Ennis as our 2025 DUX, recognising her exceptional dedication, resilience and commitment throughout Year 12.

Jaye’s start to senior years were uniquely challenging. She began Year 7 during the merger of the four secondary colleges in Shepparton and Mooroopna to form Greater Shepparton Secondary College. Starting at the McGuire Campus in 2020, she soon faced extended periods of virtual learning due to COVID. In 2022, she transitioned to the new Hawdon Street campus. Despite the constant changes, she stayed focused and committed.

Thanks to the support of her teachers, Jaye remained motivated throughout her final year. “I have some pretty good teachers who helped me throughout the year and reminded me and encouraged me to keep studying.”

Family also played a big role in her success. “My mum, dad and Letiya (sister) were big motivators. Letiya and I would study together, we would set up and put our phones down.”

Maintaining a healthy balance was equally important. While working two to three shifts a week at Casablanca and now day shifts at Boost Juice, Jaye managed her time independently, fitting in study, keeping a strong work–life rhythm, and still finding moments to spend with friends.

With Legal Studies and Psychology among her favourite subjects, Jaye will take the next step in her academic journey by studying Law at Deakin University in Geelong next year.

She encourages future Year 12 students to “dedicate time to your studies but also allow time to do what you like and make sure you have a good balance for fun.”

“Our whole college community is incredibly proud of Jaye,” Executive Principal Barbara O’Brien said. “She has shown remarkable resilience and commitment throughout her senior years, and her achievement as Dux is truly well deserved.”
