Our year 9 students recently had the exciting opportunity to step beyond the classroom and explore what life after school could look like, thanks to an inspiring initiative led by Ganbina.
The day-long tour brought together students from GSSC and other local schools for a firsthand look at further study options, starting with La Trobe University in Shepparton. There, students were welcomed into the vibrant re-orientation day, complete with delicious free crepes and loaded spuds, however the real highlights were the hands-on learning experiences.
Students explored La Trobe’s Health Sciences teaching areas, took part in clay moulding workshops, viewed cultural art displays, and were guided through the process of navigating a university course guide. It was an opportunity to discover not only what’s offered at the Shepparton campus, but across La Trobe’s wider university network.
Next, the tour continued to GOTAFE Shepparton, where students gained valuable insights into the support services and study options available through vocational education. Discussions included subject selections for Year 10, VETDSS pathways, and the wide range of career options open to them.
We extend a heartfelt thank you to Ganbina for organising this engaging and purposeful experience, and to the welcoming teams at La Trobe University and GOTAFE for their time and expertise.
Experiences like these are so much more than a day out as they ignite ideas, build confidence, and plant the seeds for our students’ future ambitions. The students returned full of enthusiasm, inspiration, and a clearer sense of what might be possible in their journeys ahead.
