Golden Square High School was established in 1960 in temporary accommodation located at Camp Hill Primary School. The school moved to its present site in 1962, catering for years 7 to 12, and became a Year 7 to 10 school in 1978. It was one of the three original feeder schools to Bendigo Senior High School.
In 1990, it took on its current name, Golden Square Secondary College. A Hearing Impaired Unit was established at the college in 1986. The College has developed, and continues to review, a comprehensive curriculum based on VELS (Victorian Essential Learning Standards) which endeavors to meet the varying needs of students who come from approximately thirty rural and urban Primary Schools.
On January 1st 2008 as part of the overall Bendigo Education Plan (BEP) Golden Square Secondary College merged with Flora Hill Secondary College and became Bendigo South East Secondary College Golden Square Campus. A new name for the Colleges will occur this year.
Please note: Bendigo South East Secondary College Golden Square Campus will officially close at the end of 2008.
